1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following information when you use WillKeeper:

Identity information — your full legal name, date of birth, and address, as provided during the Will interview.
Contact information — your email address, used to send you your secure account link and access your Will.
Will content — the text of your Will, including details of your beneficiaries, executor, assets, and wishes.
Signed document — if you upload a photo or scan of your signed Will, we store this alongside your digital original.
Payment information — processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or handle your card details.
Usage data — when you access your Will via magic link, we log the access time and count. We do not use cookies for tracking.

3. How We Use Your Data

To create, store, and provide access to your Will document.
To send you your secure account link by email.
To notify your named executor that they have been appointed.
To process your subscription payment via Stripe.
To release your Will to your executor upon receipt of a certified death certificate.

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the WillKeeper service.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Contract — processing your name, email, and Will content is necessary to provide the service you have subscribed to.
Legitimate interests — access logging helps us ensure service integrity and detect abuse.
Legal obligation — we may be required to retain certain records under applicable law.

5. Special Category Data

Your Will may contain sensitive personal information about your health, family circumstances, or financial situation. This is special category data under UK GDPR. We process it only to the extent necessary to create and store your Will, on the basis of your explicit consent given during the compliance declarations.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

Your Will and associated personal data are stored permanently. This is the core promise of WillKeeper — your Will will never be deleted. If you wish to have your account closed and data deleted, please contact us at [email protected]. We will delete your data within 30 days unless we are required to retain it by law.

7. Who We Share Data With

Supabase — our database provider, storing your Will data on encrypted servers in the EU.
Stripe — our payment processor. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
Resend — our email delivery provider, used only to send you your access links.
Anthropic — the AI provider powering the Will interview. Conversation content is processed to generate your Will. Please review Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com.
Netlify — our hosting provider.

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with any party beyond those listed above.

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data (subject to our permanent storage obligation to you).
Object to processing.
Data portability — receive your Will data in a machine-readable format.
Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9. Security

Your Will is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit using TLS 1.3. Access is controlled by unique magic link tokens with 122-bit entropy. Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS-backed servers with SOC 2 Type II certification.

10. Cookies

WillKeeper does not use tracking cookies. We use browser session storage to maintain your session during the Will creation process. This data is cleared when you close your browser tab. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
